Consistency in Blogging: A Journey Through Politics, Technology, and Writing
Monday and Tuesday have already slipped away, and here I am, still writing. I’ve been blogging for years—pouring my thoughts onto the screen, day after day, post after post. And yet, the impact I envisioned remains elusive. But that’s okay. Writing, for me, has never been solely about numbers, reach, or recognition. It’s about discipline, growth, and expression.
Each year, I set personal blogging goals, a challenge to push my limits and stay consistent. If nothing else, no one can say I haven’t been dedicated. My goal for this year? To write and publish a new post every single day, as much as possible. And so far, I’ve been doing pretty well.
Blogging is a marathon, not a sprint. When I first started, I expected immediate results—followers, engagement, and recognition. But over time, I realized that progress in writing comes slowly, much like training for a long-distance race. Some days, the words flow effortlessly; other days, it feels like I’m trudging uphill. Yet, with consistency and persistence, I’ve built endurance, improved my craft, and learned to appreciate the journey rather than the finish line. While I may not have achieved everything I hoped for, I’ve learned to appreciate the process. The consistency of writing has strengthened my voice, refined my perspective, and broadened my understanding. And as I continue this journey, I want to focus on three core topics that shape my interests: politics, technology, and writing itself.
Politics: Seeking Independent Journalism
After the recent election, I embarked on a mission to refine the way I consume news. I grew tired of the mainstream, corporate-driven media, which often feels more like curated narratives than objective reporting. The reality is that much of corporate news is carefully moderated, filtered, and, at times, diluted to align with a broader agenda. It’s propaganda disguised as information.
But there’s hope. The rise of independent journalists and cooperative-based reporting is changing the landscape of news consumption. Platforms like Substack and independent media cooperatives such as The Intercept and ProPublica are paving the way for unfiltered, investigative journalism. These journalists, untethered from corporate influence, strive to report the truth rather than push an agenda. These journalists, unfettered by corporate interests, strive to report the truth rather than push an agenda. Finding reliable, independent sources isn’t always easy, but it’s the path I’ve chosen to take.
I’m still curating a list of trustworthy sources—journalists and platforms that prioritize truth over clickbait. Once I feel my list is complete and well-polished, I’ll share it with you. Because in this age of misinformation, knowledge is power, and we must seek it from those committed to honesty.
Technology: My Passion and My Escape
Technology has always fascinated me. I love diving into the intricacies of how things work, and at times, it becomes my refuge. When anxiety creeps in, I find solace in going down a rabbit hole to solve a technical problem. There’s something therapeutic about troubleshooting—breaking things apart, understanding them, and putting them back together.
Writing about technology isn’t just a passion; it’s a necessity because it allows me to document my discoveries, share solutions with others, and stay engaged with the ever-evolving digital world. It allows me to document what I learn, share insights, and engage with like-minded individuals. Whether it’s exploring the latest advancements in AI, cybersecurity concerns, or simply troubleshooting an issue on my laptop, technology keeps my curiosity alive.
Writing About Writing: A Shift in Focus
For years, I’ve written about writing—especially writer’s block. It has been my Achilles’ heel throughout my creative journey, an ever-present hurdle I’ve had to overcome time and time again. But at this point, I feel like I’ve exhausted the topic. There’s only so much that can be said about writer’s block before it becomes repetitive.
Now, I want to shift my focus. Instead of dwelling on the struggles, I want to write about the process of completing a work and the journey to get it published—covering everything from final edits and beta readers to querying agents and weighing self-publishing options. Last month, I finally completed the seventh draft of my second novel. It’s still not perfect. It still needs refining. But it’s closer than ever to being ready for the next step.
My new goal? To navigate the complex world of publishing. Whether it’s traditional publishing, self-publishing, or exploring hybrid options, I want to document my experiences, lessons, and setbacks. Stay tuned—there’s more to come.
Blogging is more than just a habit; it’s a commitment to growth, exploration, and self-expression. While I may not have reached the level of influence I once aspired to, I’ve remained steadfast in my dedication to writing. This year, I’m pushing myself harder, aiming for daily posts, and refining my focus on politics, technology, and the art of writing itself.
There’s still so much to learn, discover, and share. As I continue this journey, I invite you to explore alongside me—question, challenge, and grow together. Let’s build a community where ideas thrive, stories unfold, and knowledge is always within reach. And as I continue this journey, I hope you’ll join me. Let’s seek the truth, embrace innovation, and celebrate the craft of writing—one post at a time.
